The digital corpse

In a world where information constantly floods us, it is increasingly difficult to determine what is true and what is not. During this lecture, Bart takes you into the world of data ethics and epistemic insecurity: the fundamental uncertainty about what we can actually still believe.

Using the intriguing concept of the “digital corpse” – the survival of deceased people in digital form – Bart asks the question: how do we ethically deal with data of people who are no longer around? What does privacy after death mean? And more importantly, what can we learn from this for how we deal with information, technology and tools like ChatGPT in everyday life?

This lecture is an invitation to look at data differently, making ourselves more resilient at a time when facts, opinions and algorithms are increasingly difficult to distinguish.
