Program

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Open coffee networking session
We wouldn't be MindLabs without a focus on connection. And so we deploy technology to facilitate beautiful networking connections between event attendees. Meet others in an approachable way during open coffee and expand your network, explore collaborations and exchange ideas. That way everyone - scientist, policymaker, entrepreneur or young professional - gets the most out of the day.
11:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Kick-off keynote by Esther Hammelburg
Esther uses the concept of “hybrid working” to describe how our lifeworld is increasingly shaped by the intertwining of digital media and physical environments. In her keynote, she discusses the role of virtual humans from this perspective and highlights its personal, social and ethical implications.
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Demos, workshops and panel discussions of your choice
During this block you decide yourself which two ‘stages’ you visit and thus which demos, workshops or panel discussions you follow. Nina van den Broek, for example, takes you into the experiences of Omroep Brabant with a copy of herself as a virtual newsreader. Indicia shows how they use virtual humans to support the learning of a new language at Language Institute Regina Coeli. And Bart Wernaart talks all about ethics and our digital corpse; that which we “bequeath” of data about ourselves. * Check out the full lineup below.
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Lunch
We take a breather and let it all sink in. VIP guests receive their lunch in the lounge. Entrance only guests have the possibility to buy a meal at the Spoorzone.
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Demos, workshops and panel discussions of your choice
Also in this second block, you will have the opportunity to visit two “stages” and attend demos, workshops or panel discussions of your choice. Kyana van Eijndhoven and Ethel Pruss, for example, explain how non-verbal mimicry can improve interaction between humans and virtual humans. Nick van Apeldoorn explores the limits of hyper-realistic virtual humans: digital faces that not only smile or frown, but also twitch, blush or even shed a tear. And Daan Rutjens and Geert Jan van Ouwendorp take you through how well prepared humans are for a future shaped by artificial intelligence. * Check out the full line-up below.
